• Safety upgrade to safeguard existing full pallet conveying lines by means of the implementation of automated vertical portals in compliance with EC regulations

One of the world’s leading chemical companies appointed Bierre Automazioni for the safeguarding retrofit project of four existing conveying lines for full pallets at one of the production plants in Spain.

On each line, the full pallets with bags were transferred from the first floor (palletizing area) to the ground floor (storage area) through a vertical lowerator, dated and originally supplied without any material barriers to prevent an operator from inadvertently entering the open compartment.

The ‘‘safeguard upgrade’’ solution, designed, produced, delivered and installed by Bierre Automazioni in accordance with the Machinery Directive, consisted of the supply of four automated vertical portals, one each line, CE certified and complete with the appropriate fall-prevention system and electrical panel with PLC to control the whole pallet handling operation, from gate opening requests to descent, ascent and stop in case of anomaly.
