Sika Italia SpA, the Italian branch of the Swiss multinational company Sika AG, a specialist in chemical materials for construction and automotive industries, commissioned to Bierre Automazioni the complete revamping of an existing bag palletizer downstream of one of the main packaging lines at the Sassuolo (MO) plant. Through the precise scheduling, the careful project management, and a well-structured team of expert mechanical, electrical and electronic professionals, Bierre achieved the goal of restoring the machine’s full efficiency and reliability, complying with the limited production shutdown time available for the on-site activities.


The refurbishment of the palletizer included the following interventions:
- supply and installation of a new double empty pallet feeding line to handle different pallet types with increased flexibility;
- general mechanical maintenance of the whole machine;
- update of the electrical panel with replacement of obsolete components;
- upgrade and validation of the safety circuit;
- implementation of the communication protocol between the safety circuit and the logical operation circuit (industrial protocol between PLC and Safety PLC) and upgrade of the communication interface with the operator in case of anomaly;
- training to operators;
- final on-site commissioning.
