• Virtual machine (GHOST) for the supervision PC of a packaging plant

Basf Italia relied on Bierre Automazioni to implement the centralized control system of the machines of the packaging plant in Pontecchio Marconi (BO).

Since there was no complete backup of the supervision PC of the plant control system, in the event of PC default, the customer ran the risk of a prolonged shutdown of the entire production line.

The solution designed and realized by Bierre Automazioni consisted in creating a physical image of the supervision PC, complete with all the programs and software for the line management.

In this way, by quickly replacing the defective PC with a new one restarted with a virtual machine containing the original configurations (PC Ghost), it was possible to ensure the continuity of the control in case of failure of the supervision PC.

The achieved results

Thanks to the intervention carried out by Bierre Automazioni, in the event of a failure, the internal personnel can activate the emergency supervision from any PC present along the plant in less than 15 minutes through the virtual machine’s hard disk connection.
